Black Combe Country Fair takes place in the gentle western pastureland of Bootle; the village nestles beneath the great purple heather covered massif of Black Combe, providing one of the most magnificent backdrops to any show in Cumbria.
West Cumbria is the place to be throughout the seasons, but especially so in late August; the warmth of the western breezes, the golden light dappled and shaded by stone walls that seem to grow out of the earth and the smell of newly cut grass all point towards that time of year for celebration. A time for country pursuits to be displayed, admired, judged and discussed – over a pint of Real Ale.
Meet the Beagles, lurchers and terriers; have a go at clay pigeon shooting (supervised over 18), dog show, children’s sports, for all.
Where better a place to enjoy such abundant variety than Bootle?
The Bootle village show fields are free draining; offering organiser, competitor, stallholder and public a comfortable experience even when the sunshine is in the liquid form.
Come along and enjoy the show – you will be sure to come again.
